Evalution of the EUNAAPA Network

Introduction

In order to sustain the network every year the status of the network needs to be monitored. The SC is responsible for the evaluation. At the two-year meeting the SC presents the results on the impact. All  results are to be presented on the website. Based on the methods developed and used for the evaluation of the EUNAAPA project and according to the framework the following information can be collected:

1. Number of members

A detailed account of the number of (new) members in each month will be given

 

2. Number of guests

A detailed account of the number of subscribers to the newsletter (who are not a member) and an estimation of the number of visitors who are not a member will be presented.

 

3. Website

  The following indicators to assess the quality of the website will be presented:

  1. The number of visitors to the public and the members area (number of hits and unique visitors)
  2. Background of the visitors of the website at both areas will be obtained through questionnaires.
  • At random, a number of visitors to the EUNAAPA internet platform will be asked to fill out a short “pop-up driven” questionnaire on their background including: occupational area (scientist, policy maker (national, regional or local), provider or professional in de field of ageing), home nation.
  • Also, members and persons who subscribe to the EUNAAPA newsletter through the website, fill out a registration form with some background details

 

3. Familiarity with the website
Members will be asked to approach their contacts (scientists, policy makers, providers) in the field of physical activity and older adults to fill out a short questionnaire on their familiarity with the website and their opinion on the quality of the website.  

4. Newsletter
The number of subscribers to the newsletters circulated through the website and the background of the subscribers will be collected.

5. Quality of the contents the website
Visitors of both areas of the website will be asked to fill out a questionnaire on the quality of the contents of the website. Data on the relevance of the contents, the user friendliness of the site and whether information is up-to-date will be obtained. Also data on the number of files downloaded from the website will be presented.

4. Indicators of the process of the Network:

a.   Number of meetings, at which (members of) the EUNAAPA network plays a role (e.g. EUNAAPA symposium or meeting held at a conference). Included data will be:

  1. The number of (active) visitors
  2. The background of the visitors (members or not; background)
  3. Quality of the meeting
    Visitors of the conference will be asked to fill out a questionnaire on the quality of the organization and of the contents of the conference.
  4. Media coverage/publications
    The number of media reports as well as potential conference proceedings or publications will be collected.

       b. Number of publications and dissemination: publications that will be available through the EUNAAPA website will be monitored.

 

 

 

               Two year monitoring

The impact of EUNAAPA on the different target groups will be assessed by three criteria:

  1. The knowledge of the target groups with the work of EUNAAPA, including the application (or willingness to apply) of the knowledge of EUNAAPA.
  2. Exchanges with other networks/organizations
  3. Popularity of EUNAAPA 

The designated targetgroups of EUNAAPA include (in random order): 

  • Scientists

  • Professionals (GP’s, nurses, fitness instructors, physiotherapists, social workers)

  • Providers (personnel fitness clubs, Public Health agencies, Leisure and recreational centers, welfare organisations (non-governmental))

  • Policy makers (physical activity / health promotion and urban development and public transportation)+

  • Representatives of older people

1. The knowledge of the target groups of EUNAAPA

The network members will be asked to distribute a questionnaire among their contacts in their home nation. With this questionnaire data will be obtained on:

  • the knowledge of the target groups of the EUNAAPA project and its work
  • their attitude on EUNAAPA
  • the number of contacts and collaborations with EUNAAPA
  • their knowledge on the output of EUNAAPA
  • membership to other European networks
  • influence of the (work of) EUNAAPA in their daily work (usability/use of knowledge , (inclination for) change in strategy/policy/involvement)

 

2. Exchanges and collaboration

The impact of EUNAAPA will also be determined by the number of exchanges and collaboration with other networks/organizations. This information will be collected from the EUNAAPA members.

 

3. Popularity of EUNAAPA

Popularity will be assessed through online search engines on the number of hits with the keyword “EUNAAPA”  (www.google.com) and by the ranking of the website when entering the keywords: ‘physical activity’, ‘older people and/or ageing’ and ‘Europe’.

The results of the evaluation will be published here. The first evaluation will be published in the beginning of 2010.
